Collie Soccer and hockey results

COLLIE Power men's travelled to Balingup to take on fierce rivals Blackwood in the quarter finals of the South West Cup.

The defending champions of Collie were put under immense pressure and went down early on from a corner.

The Blackwood player headed in off the post to make it 1-0. Shortly before half-time, Grant Cresswell put Jac Hollins through who's powerful shot across the keeper made it 1-1 at half-time.

Collie managed to go 2-1 up from a wonderful free kick by Daniel Kearney to Hayden DeAngelis who after a great run, brought the ball down and slotted past the keeper from close range.

This lead would not last however as the hosts capitalised on a failed clearance in the Powers defence. At 2-2 the match went straight to penalties.

Blackwood skied their first effort to give Collie the advantage.

The first four of the Powers penalties were all successful, however DeAngelis's effort was saved which took the shootout into sudden death.

Blackwood missed to the left and up stepped Ryan Loxton who slotted his penalty to win the game for Collie. They now advance to the semi finals.

The men's team take on Dalyellup at home on Sunday.

The ladies were back at home and took on a dominating Margaret River team.

Collie fought hard all day but went down 5-0 to end their South West Cup run for this season.

They take on the same opponents in Margaret River this Sunday in their next league match.

COLLIE 15 and under girl’s hockey team lost the grand final at the state championships by flicks. At full-time the score was 1-1. 

YMCC scored early in the first half and controlled the game but in the second half Collie took control scoring quickly with Emilia Payne finding the net.

Collie dominated unlucky not to add to their score. 

It was a very successful carnival with Collie winning six games and losing 1.

Collie scored 22 goals over the carnival and having only six scored against.

It was a great team effort with seven individual scoring goals. Overall it was an outstanding team effort led by captain Grace Shepherd.
