UPDATE: Bunbury Police Inspector Peter Morrissey has told the media police need information to help find a man they believe assaulted a 56-year-old man from Manjimup outside Kirup Tavern on Friday night.
Inspector Morrissey said the 56-year-old was airlifted from Bunbury Regional Hospital to Royal Perth Hospital on the night of the assault and he remains there in a coma.
“We are seeking any information about a Caucasian male, approximately 20 years old, of a slim but muscular build who was seen leaving the area shortly after the assault with no shirt on,” he said.
“Police do not know if the men knew each other but there were a number of reports that came to police to say the men became involved in an altercation.”
Inspector Morrissey said police do not know why the man from Manjimup was in Kirup and the pub was closed at the time.
“This is a very serious investigation and any information the public have that could help us possibly solve the mystery around this event would be welcomed,” he said.
EARLIER: Bunbury Detectives are investigating an assault that occurred in Kirup on Friday 14 July 2017.
Between 8:30pm and 9:30pm, an altercation occurred between two men at a Tavern on South Western Highway, resulting in a 56 year old male receiving serious head injuries.
He is currently at Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition.
Detectives would like to speak to a man in his 20s who they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries. The man is described as fair skinned with a muscular build.
The man is described as fair skinned, slim and muscular Detectives are looking to speak to a Caucasian male in his 20’s who is believed to be involved.
