Six local youth players from Bunbury Ultimate recently qualified for the WA state Under 18 teams, with five of them having just returned from Melbourne where they competed in the 2017 Australian Youth Ultimate Championships.

The students travelled with the WA teams during the middle week of the school holidays to take part in the peak youth event which saw 11 teams from six states compete.
Bunbury players Shawn Iguana and Jowell Villafuerte were selected for their second year, while Caleb Warnock, Caleb Staiger, Eilish Warnock and Taylor Anderson all making their WA representation debut.
After three big days of competition, WA finished with bronze medals in both the girls and boys divisions, with the WA U18 girls also bringing home awards for Spirit.
Thirty athletes were selected at the event to take part in development and training in the lead up to the national youth team selection to represent Australia at the 2018 World Junior Ultimate Championships in Canada. Bunbury’s youngest member, 13-year-old Eilish Warnock was talented enough to be selected into the training team and will compete as part of a mixed team in exhibition matches at the Australia-New Zealand Trans-Tasman Championships.
