The annual astronomical event displays up to 20 shooting stars an hour.
When can I see it?
The shower runs each year from July 12 to August 23 but it will be most visible on the five days around July 30, with a peak on July 29.
The best time to see it will be after the moon has set. On July 29 the moon will set at 11.15pm in NSW and the sun will rise at 6.49am on July 30 so you should have to get up too early to catch a few shooting stars.
Where can I see it?
The shooting stars will be in the East. Choose a dark location away from light pollution. A beach can be good or on top of a hill.
Ideally you want to lie down. Remember to shut off your phone screen, put out any campfires and let your eyes adjust to the dark for around 20 minutes.
