Bruce Jackson’s dominate display
In a field of 48 players the big hitting Bruce Jackson showed he has a deft touch as well on the greens scoring 38 points to be a runaway victor in the Drummond Golf sponsored event.
After the game the greens were a big talking point on how true and quick they were but they were no match for Bruce who found the course to his liking and had a few shots spare to his nearest competitor.
Jim Moyses took out the second place trophy with 36 beating the fast finishing Alex Tweedie on a countback also on 36.
Last week’s winner Colin Giblett continued his good form with 35 followed by Greg Bell and Peter Coombs 34, Jan Vanvollenstee, Garry Beard and Trevor Lawrence 33, Terry Reeves, Brian Banks Ken Smallwood and Colin Naysmith rounded the vouchers out with 32.
Garry Beard returned the best gross of 77. Two ladies played and Rhonda Annandale gained the upper hand with 29 to edge out Dot Lawrence 27.
On Tuesday 37 players went to battle for the Club sponsored Leisure Day Trophy. Tony Barker-May prevailed with a fine 37 to edge out last week’s winner Chris Stewart with 35.
Neil Motion and Geoff Lee also returned 35, followed by John Wray 34, Garry Beard 33, Michael Jack and Peter Coombs 32 and Des Hebb 31.
Next week: Physio Group South West stableford; Tuesday Leisure Day; Thursday Scroungers.

Mares fly the Collie flag
Four different pacers of the fairer sex from four different Collie stables came up trumps for their respective connections by scoring over the last week.
The good run started last Tuesday at Gloucester Park when the Brian and Trent Wheeler combination scored with the Group one winning mare Once Bitten.
This consistent performer was a well supported $3.20 favourite when she led from her front line draw, holding out all her challengers in the run to the line.
At the metropolitan meeting on Friday evening, Errol Ashcroft engaged Kyle Harper for another consistent mare in Kiss Me Cougar.
She settled at the tail of the field and sprouted wings in the final 100 metres to score running away in a 1.59.5 mile rate for the long 2500 metre journey.
Despite being thrown out as a good each way chance by Gareth Hall in the pre race commentary she was great value at $10.20 the win and $2.90 the place.
This was after a similar run in Bunbury a couple of weeks back when Lauren Jones piloted her to a $19.60 win.
Bunbury’s Saturday night programme saw Dale Jackson’s Nina Jane win her first race for her new stable, scoring after settling in last position and gradually improving her position before being five wide round the final turn.
Returning dividends of $29.90 and $4.60, the mares reinsman Aiden DeCampo was a happy camper as he picked up the catch drive with Trent Wheeler opting for the Darwin Cup over the weekend!
The Justins team made the long trip to Kellerberrin with three horses on Sunday returning with a win and a second from their two mares.
Deni Roberts drove a great race on Simondou Su, sitting one out and three back before getting a trail into the race and outstaying the opposition to score at the lucrative odds of $15.50 and $4.10.
Jack Justins was then able to take advantage of the inside backline draw on Gunna Get Lucky to follow the leader and winner before running a game second as a $2.30 place chance.
After Gloucester Park on Friday night, Bunbury on Saturday and Pinjarra on Monday afternoon have programmes.

COLLIE Power men’s and ladies hosted Football Club Margaret River and Busselton City respectively in what turned out to be a frustrating day for both Collie sides.
The ladies fought hard all day but were overwhelmed by their league opponents from Busselton and eventually went down 7-1 to the visitors.
Young Jess Carter scored Collies only goal of the day. They take on Margaret River ladies this Sunday in Collie.
An understrength men’s side took on heavyweights Margaret River in windy conditions. Collie spent most of the game defending however 10 minutes before half-time the visitors would take the lead.
The second half was much of the same as Collie battled with heart and intensity. Hope was salvaged when Jac Hollins was brought down in the box and up stepped Jovan Duricic.
However the shot was saved and the match ended 1-0 to the visitors, effectively ending Collies chances of defending their league title.
All efforts will now go into this Sunday where they take on Hay Park in the semi-final of the South West Cup.
