Industry and government are throwing their doors open to South West businesses through a new initiative aimed at generating more local procurement opportunities and jobs.
Procure South West will be a platform for local businesses to demonstrate their capabilities in servicing major clients in the government sector and across agriculture, forestry, mining, and construction.
With a focus on innovation, the event will provide a forum for demonstrating the latest equipment, systems and technology, and feature presentations on new projects and careers.
Organising committee member and Bunbury Wellington Economic Alliance chief executive officer Matt Granger said the event aimed to boost jobs in the South West by positioning local businesses to capture a bigger share of procurement spending by industry and government.
“Through Procure South West, we want local businesses to demonstrate what they are good at,” he said.
“We want procurement leaders from industry and government to learn more about local business capabilities and have the conversation about buying more goods and services locally.
“We are seeking expressions of interest from South West suppliers to join us in showcasing their products and services. Innovation and technology will be a focus with many opportunities for business to join in on cross industry information sessions and problem-solving forums.”
Procure South West is an initiative of the South West Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
South32 Worsley Alumina vice president of operations Dino Otranto said his business was proud to support the event.
“We want to build strong relationships with our suppliers to seek innovative solutions with a focus on safety, quality and cost,” he said.
“By bringing together local industry and local businesses we hope we can explore opportunities that will ultimately benefit our communities.”
Procure South West will be held at the automotive training facilities at South Regional TAFE in Bunbury on November 24 and 25.
