Mr O’Leary said it was unreal – the whale swam under the boat 30 times popping up on each side - doing different tricks each time it came up.
“It was very interested in us, and just checking us out – a one in a million experience,” he said.
“I was buzzing like a child in a candy store.
“We had this fella playing right next to the boat for an hour. It was so close, I could reach out and touch him,” he said.
“Days like this make it all worthwhile.”
With the weather warming up whales are on their annual migration to Antarctica, it is also the start of the boating season which will see this year’s Blessing of the Fleet take place at Port Geographe Marina on September 23.
