The exhibition, titled ‘Big Sky Country’, will be opened on Friday November 17 and will run until December 17.
Ms Taylor said the exhibition was inspired by the wide open skies she experienced while working in remote locations around Australia.
“In the city, I really struggle when I can’t get out into the landscape. I need to be able to breathe and need to be able to get out into the ‘big sky’,” she said.
“So ‘big sky country’ is where I can relax and have a bit of space around me.
“I wanted to express my joy in the ‘big sky’ and the feeling of Australian huge open spaces. This whole exhibition is about the iconic Australian landscape, the beautiful blues in the skies that we get, and even the pale pastels, the beautiful clean air that we have here.
“I don’t think I’ve seen it in very many other places.”
Ms Taylor began her artistic career while studying at the Nation School of Art in Sydney and lived in country NSW for 15 years before settling in Western Australia, where helping to build community wellness and engagement through art has become her passion.
“I work in remote communities for community wellness and engagement,” Ms Taylor said.
“It’s about mental wellness and enabling people to express themselves and enabling them to choose an alternative way to cope with stress and depression and show them that there is no right or wrong way to do art.”
Along with the exhibit, Ms Taylor will also be holding a landscape painting workshop at the Collie Art Gallery on Saturday, November 18.
“The most important thing that I want to do with a workshop is to enable everybody that wants to participate,” Ms Taylor said.
The exhibition will be on show at the Collie Art Gallery from November 18 until December 17.
The gallery is open from 10am until 4pm on Thursdays through to Mondays.
