The Collie Men’s Darts Association is celebrating after three of its members represented Western Australia at the recent under 25 national championships.

Collie locals Jarred Northover, Trevor Turvey and Joshua Franks traveled to Melton in Victoria last month to represent the state and came back with a handful of medals.
One of the West Australian teams, which featured Mr Northover along with three other players from around the state, went undefeated throughout the teams competition and claimed the gold medal.
The team also made it to the final of the Neville Cowen Trophy fours competition but fell to a team from Victoria.
However it was the singles competition where the Collie players excelled. Mr Turvey made it to the final of the competition, knocking out Mr Northover in the second-last round, meaning the Collie players finished second and third overall.
Mr Northover capped off his strong performance at the championships with an award for finishing in the top six players at the competition in average, with an average score of 21.2 per dart.
Mr Northover said he enjoyed the experience of representing the state and competing a higher level was a good challenge.
“Playing in the national championships was an eye-opener,” he said.
“Competing against good players from all over the country really takes your darts to the next level.”
Mr Northover, who had previously represented the state at the national championships a couple of years ago, said he was able to pass on his experience to his younger teammates.
“They were nervous, so I told them to relax and play their game like they would if they were back home,” he said.
Mr Northover said that while their darts were “a bit shaky” at times throughout the competition, the experience would be beneficial for future competitions.
