The council has officially agreed to make a $3000 donation to the City of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province.
The donation will help with assisting disaster relief efforts following Typhoon Damrey in early November.
Nine councillors voted for the proposal, while four voted against it.
The decision was made on Tuesday, November 28.
At its meeting on November 21, the City of Bunbury council discussed providing $3000 for Nha Trang.
The proposal considered setting aside funds in the City of Bunbury’s 2017/18 budget to make the donation possible.
The province was in need of disaster relief following Typhoon Damrey on November 4, with winds of 90 kilometer per hour damaging over 40,000 homes.
Typhoon Damrey also caused damage to hundreds of electricity poles and trees in the region.
Following the City of Bunbury’s decision in March 2011, a Disaster Relief Reserve Fund was established to assist state, national and international areas suffering in the wake of natural disasters.
The City of Bunbury has previously used allocated funding to support disaster stricken areas including Parkerville, Waroona and Esperance.
