In stifling conditions a great field of 64 took to the fairways to compete for the club trophy.
With most members playing in the morning Wayne Waywood braved the heat and humidity and his score reflected the temperature.
Wedgie compiled a great but sometimes lucky round of 42 points to be a well-deserved winner.
The golfing gods were in Wedgie’s favour with some kind deflections of the timber, but his class and accuracy with the putter made all the difference.
Joe Italiano battled on strongly for a well-deserved 39 to take the runners-up spot.
Frank Battista had 38 followed by Alan Kent, David Laird and William Hammond all on 37 and Tom Hardie and Trevor Graham rounded the vouchers out with 36.
Rhonda Annandale won the ladies, beating Bev Moyses on a countback with both ladies having 36.

On Tuesday 37 players went to battle for the club sponsored Leisure Day trophy.
Ross Davidson made the most of the school holidays to have a hit and win the event with 37.
Dave Henderson had 35, Jim Lee and Jim Larsen had 34, Trevor McCormick, Steve Ireland 33, Mark McCormick, Neil Motion, John Michalak and Garry Beard all had 32.
The best vet on the day went to George Newlands with 34 points.
Thursday scroungers attracted a good field of 52 golfers.
In a close contest Ray Alp won the day with 21.
Darren O’Brien had 20 followed by Mick Pokrywka, Neil Motion and Trevor Graham on 19, with Ian Shannon and Bruce Jackson rounding the vouchers out with 18.
Garry Beard returned the best gross score with a round of 38.
