The Collie Art Gallery’s newest exhibition, Highlights from the Collie Collection, will open on February 9.
The Shire of Collie has collected a range of significant artworks including the Claude Hotchin Bequest, which consists of 34 pictures presented to the shire back in 1954.
Claude Hotchin was an important patron of the arts in Western Australia and donated more than 200 original artworks to a number of country shires, metropolitan hospitals and to the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
Last year, the shire received a grant from Lotterywest to have 20 of the works restored, with the surfaces of the pieces and their frames repaired.
Now the Collie Art Gallery will be showing off a collection of contemporary and traditional works from the Claude Hotchin Bequest in their new exhibition, which runs from February 9 until February 25.
The gallery is open from 10am until 4pm on Thursdays to Mondays.
The exhibition’s opening night event will start at 6pm on Friday, February 9.
