The ACO Collective is returning to the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre for one performance on Tuesday, March 20 From 7pm.
Led by iconic Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto, the group combines Australia’s most talented up-and-coming string players with some of the country’s best professional musicians.
Kuusisto, in his third year as ACO Collective artistic director, will feature as a soloist in Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending during the tour.
Classic works such as Henry Purcell’s Fantasia Upon One Note and Benjamin Britten’s Second String Quartet will also feature in the show.
ACO Collective violinist Benjamin Adler was thrilled to perform in Bunbury once again.
“I have been to Bunbury for music two or three times...it’s just stunning and it is just such a beautiful part of Australia and I mean that in terms of the natural environment and the people,” he said.
“I have found the audiences in Bunbury to be relatively warm and appreciative in regards to all of the music that I have performed there.
“There is something real, spontaneous and risky when performing live as opposed to mastering something in the recording studio.”
Adler joined ACO Collective as an ‘emerging artist’ in 2016, part of a program to recruit young string artists to perform with experienced musicians.
The 25-year-old was then called back to perform with the group last year.
“My colleagues in ACO are among the best young musicians, I have formed some really strong relationships with the people I have met from these tours,” Adler said.
The violinist said the group believed in the communicative power of music and connected with audiences across the globe.
The ACO Collective has performed in over 85 regional centres since launching in 2007.
