On Saturday, March 24, both teams took to the field with a chance at taking home the silverware.
The strong winds and slight chance of rain failed to deter either side.
With Colts winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Eaton strived to impress in its first inning.
Opening batsmen Matt Davies (69 runs off 153 balls) and Don Seaman (68 off 70, including a whopping 11 fours) got their side off to a cracking start.
After Seaman’s dismissal on 123, Colts’ bowling line-up carved through middle order batsmen Matthew Foreman (0), Arron Quartermaine (0), and Clint Hewson (8).
James Hillery (11 off 13) and Clayton Caltsounis (14 off 16) were effective at the crease, while Leigh O’Mara, Troy Lewis, and Stuart Clark did not reach double figures.
Captain Cruize Ciallella (4/34 from 10 overs) and Blaze Rosinski (2/27 from 10) starred for the away side.
Chasing Eaton’s 8/189, Colts hit the ground running thanks to opener Jayden Goodwin (49 off 111, including five fours).
Wicketkeeper Jaysen Miguel (16 off 41) and Ciallella (31 off 37) dazzled at the crease, while batsmen Dylan Bairstow (4), Murray Goodwin (9), and James Anderson (0) were quickly sent packing.
Joe Barningham (16 off 31) and Rosinski (21 off 26) added to the run count late in the day, before Eaton dismissed Colts for 163 with one over to go.
The following day, Seaman (14 off 16), Hillery (38 off 59, including seven fours), and Foreman (19 off 60) gave Eaton a boost during its second inning.
Guided by Ciallella (3/16 from 10) and Josh Topliss (2/20 from seven), Colts took down Eaton’s middle and lower orders.
Ciallella’s dismissals of Clark, Caltsounis, and Hewson stranded Eaton on 8/121.
Eaton was all out for 128 following the dismissals of lower order batsmen O’Mara (run out by Miguels Riley and Jaysen) and Lewis (trapped lbw by Connor Ipsen).
Colts entered its second inning in a comfortable position.
Openers Bairstow (42 off 68, including five fours) and Jayden Goodwin (36 off 100) continued Colts’ blistering form on day two.
After Jaysen Miguel retired injured, Anderson’s dismissal put the visitors on 3/92.
Murray Goodwin (14), Riley Miguel (18no), and Ciallella (12) then edged Colts closer to victory.
Overshadowing the efforts of Hillery (2/40 from 10) and Caltsounis (1/16 from six) with the ball, Colts reached 6/155 and passed Eaton’s total with 2.4 overs remaining.
