Young people in the South West will have the opportunity to be part of the first Change Makers Festival to be held at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Saturday, April 14.
The Change Makers Festival is the first of its kind in Western Australia and is an opportunity for young innovators, aged between 15 and 25, to be part of a unique event aimed at helping them take an idea from seed to fruition.
BREC Marketing Manager Jo Semmens said they were keen to come up with innovative programs for young people in the area and Change Makers was the first of what would be hopefully many new innovative events.
“We want to give young people in the South West the opportunity to get their ideas off the ground, without any other agenda,” she said.
The half-day conference is free for young people to attend which was made possible with the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, as well as generous support from the South West Commission, The Department of Local Government and Community, and the City of Bunbury.
The conference will be headlined by keynote speaker Simon Griffiths, chief executive officer from Melbourne start-up Who Gives a Crap, as well as sessions by young entrepreneurs Jordan Gianfrancesco, Sash Milne, Kelsie Miller and Andrew Frazer.
Following the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to apply for the 10-week mentorship program to help bring their idea to life and drive change in their local community.
