Byron Bay-based blues and folk artist Jordan McRobbie is looking forward to getting back to his home state roots when he plays in the South West this week.
The Fremantle-born artist moved east a few years ago, where the idyllic location of Byron Bay provides country living vibes, but the music scene of a city.
Known for his honest voice and virtuosic ability on the 12 and six stringed guitars, McRobbie has released two EP’s to sold-out crowds, toured nationally and taken out multiple songwriting and performance awards including the WA blues/roots song of the year for his track ‘High Tide’.
Recently, McRobbie has been back in the studio and is eyeing off tours of Europe and North American when the album is released.
McRobbie said audiences would get a taste of some of his new music at his down south gigs.
“I’ve been working with a few guys from Dead Letter Circus on more progressive roots that is almost an electronic rock set,” he said.
“It is really awesome and a whole new world for me, it is fun to experiment, you’ve got to grow over time and try new things.
“This new music is a little different and I think it is a bit more niche.”
McRobbie will play Settlers Tavern on April 12 and The Prince of Wales on April 13 at 9pm. Entry is free.
