Jacob Roger Graffin appeared in the Collie Magistrates Court on April 11 and pleaded guilty to driving with prescribed illicit drug in oral fluid and no authority to drive, due to a suspended licence.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Greg Ward told the court Graffin was pulled over by police on Prinsep Street North at 2.59pm on February 18 and was found to have methylamphetamine in his oral fluid.
Sergeant Ward also said police found that Graffin’s licence had been suspended since January 26 due to non-payment of fines.
Graffin told the court he was unaware of the fines and had no idea that his licence had been suspended.
He also said at the time he was pulled over, he hadn’t taken any drugs in previous 24 hours and thought he would be alright.
Magistrate Evan Shackleton handed Graffin a $500 fine for the drug charge and a $200 for driving with a suspended licence.
