The management of the Collie Community House has been taken over by the Collie Family Centre and will be able to provide more services for a longer period of time.
The centre took over the building on March 23 after the Department of Child Protection services offered them the opportunity to take the building on.
Celebrating the take over, the centre is holding an official opening and light refreshments for all members of the community on May 1 from 12-1pm.
Collie Family Centre Program Manager Sharon Thompson said with the change they can offer more community services including free counselling, exercise classes and a child health nurse.
Mrs Thompson said they’ll also work closely with the shire to introduce drug and alcohol programs and hopefully focus on tackling the issues of youth after many parents requested a counselling service for children under 16.
