The community bus was blessed by Bridgetown Celebrant Patricia Stieg in front of dignitaries and community members at the Bridgetown Town Square, on Friday, April 13.
The vehicle, named as ‘Miss Rosie’, has space for 19 passengers or 15 passengers and a wheelchair, and features an internal wheelchair hoist.
Miss Rosie replaces the old community bus, ‘Rosie’, with thanks to funding from Lotterywest, Talison Lithium and the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes.
Ms Stieg said that the community members of Bridgetown and Greenbushes were lucky to have such a wonderful vehicle that would provide many wonderful memories.
“This bus will bring with it a promise of adventures, journeys to new places and a means of experiencing new and wonderful times with good company,” Ms Stieg said.
“It will assist all the community from young people off to camps, to the not so young on outings and regular shoppers coming in from Greenbushes.”
Bridgetown Greenbushes Shire President Cr Tony Pratico cut the ribbon on the entry to the bus before the guests boarded for a tour.
The bus leaves Greenbushes fortnightly on Tuesdays from 9am before making the return trip from Bridgetown at 11.30am.
