South West residents are being invited to join the newly formed Bunbury Southwest Rotaract club for young people.
The club will provide people aged between 18-30 with opportunities to engage in a wide range of activities including social, professional and community events.
Rotaract is a global organisation that empowers students and young professionals to create positive change in their local communities and around the world.
Bunbury Southwest Rotaract group organiser Shannon Wood said the club would be engaged in a wide range of community projects across the South West.
“We want to see younger people in the region stepping up to help with community projects,” Ms Wood said.
She said members have already come up with ideas for projects from the first meeting earlier in the month and ideas vary depending on members’ interests’ and what the ‘club wants to focus on’.
Some clubs in Perth have fundraised money for their local animal shelter and sent birthing kits overseas to assist with childbirth in third world countries.
Ms Wood said she encourages more people to join the club.
“At the moment we are still just chatting to people who may be interested in joining as we need a solid membership base before we can charter the club,” she said.
The next meeting will be held on May 2 at 6:30pm with the location to be advised.
