The Melbourne Cricket Ground was even more freezing today at the Queen’s Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood.
All 18 AFL coaches – from Nathan Buckley to Damien Hardwick – slid into a pool of ice to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease through footy legend Neale Daniher’s fundraiser Big Freeze.
About $30 million has been raised over the past four years, with more than $23 million going towards cure and care initiatives.
Daniher, a former Essendon player and Demons coach between 1998 and 2007, was diagnosed four years ago.
Each day in Australia at least two people are diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, and it's responsible for about 800 deaths a year.
Thousands of footy fans joined Daniher on a walk from Federation Square to the iconic MCG before the match.
