Former Northern Territory police commissioner John McRoberts is facing imprisonment when he fronts his sentencing hearing following his conviction for attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The 59-year-old was granted bail ahead of his sentencing after a jury delivered an 11-1 guilty verdict on May 31.
Acting Justice Dean Mildren indicated at the time he would likely deliver a jail sentence. The matter is scheduled to be heard in the NT Supreme Court at 10am on Monday.
The maximum jail term is 15 years.
McRoberts was found guilty of intending to deflect and frustrate the fraud investigation into his former lover, travel agent Alexandra Xana Kamitsis, who was later jailed.
Kamitsis was the prime target of the NT's largest-ever fraud investigation, in which numerous Darwin travel agents were found to have been defrauding a Territory government pensioner concession scheme by millions of dollars.
The crown argued McRoberts had lied to his colleagues and public servants about his relationship with Kamitisis and was involved in the investigation.
