One small South West business is showing how pop-up shops can succeed in Bunbury’s CBD.
Ginger Moon Soy Candles moved into Victoria Street last week as a pop-up shop and will be there for the next month possibly three.
Owner Priscilla Watts said it had been going well since opening on June 25 with many customers saying they’d be back again.
“I do markets every weekend and now that winter is here, they close down and I’ve always wondered how I’d go in a shop,” she said.
“I’m just going to see how I go for the first month and take it from there – if I do well I’d like to move to a permanent shop.
“There is that many crafty people out there that have trouble getting their stuff out so being able to come into a pop-up would be great for them.”
Ms Watts said she jumped at the pop-up shop opportunity after seeing it advertised on Facebook by one of the owners of new children’s brand Kidd & Co who had moved out of the space but still had three months to go on the lease.
“If they’ve got an empty shop I don’t see why landowners wouldn’t offer something like this,” she said.
“It’s a groovy little strip, I like it – I’ve been surprised by how many people have come in, I didn’t think I’d do as well as I have.
“I don’t have to cart all my stock, people knowing where to find me because that’s the issue I have a lot of the time – it’s nice to have everything here.”
Have your say – would you like to see more pop-up shops in the Bunbury CBD?
