Club president Peter Bellden said it was an “awesome result”, with the auction raising $3610 and a further $400 collected in donations.
He said all of the jerseys sold for over $100, with one even fetching $350.
It was the second time the club had held a charity game, with $3000 raised for the National Breast Cancer Foundation last year.
The specially-designed blue jerseys were worn earlier that day in the Mongrels loss to Dunsborough.
The Mongrels fought hard defensively but the first half was dominated by Dunsborough, who had the lion’s share of possession.
The Mongrels were a little sloppy with the ball going forward and Dunsborough made them pay with two unconverted tries to lead by 10 points at half time.
Going down the hill at the Collie Senior High School oval in the second half, Collie took control of the game.
The Mongrels looked much more dangerous with the ball and came within inches of crossing the line for a try midway through the half.
Unfortunately Collie was unable to hit the scoreboard before the game was called off early due to a Dunsborough injury.
Bellden said it was unfortunate the game had to be called off.
“It was unlucky that the game was called early. Collie had some good chances and if it had gone longer they probably would have scored,” he said.
“It was a physical game and played in good spirit which was good, because games with Dunsborough haven’t always been like that.”
