Set to open its doors for the first time later this month, The Forge marks a new era for a building that has held many good nights for the people of Bunbury.
With more than 30 years of collective experience between them, owner James Battah, bar manager Raelee Taylor and entertainment manager Kaycee Taylor said they were aiming to bring the fun back to Bunbury.
The new entertainment complex will include three separate bars including one just for cocktails, a lounge area, pool tables, arcade games, a stage up top for bands in the Anvil Bar and a DJ area down below in the Boiler Room.
A club membership will offer limo rides for members on special occasions, with cash prize giveaways and a worker of the week competition also in the pipeline.
Describing it as a fresh venue with old school operating ethics, Mr Battah said The Forge would be a melting pot, combining different eras and genres.
“We’re going for two different genres, you’ve got your DJ’s, your bands and it’s all in one venue for two demographics,” he said.
“Respect the staff, the venue and each other – that’s what its about, follow the rules and you’ll be welcome.
“At the end of the day it’s not about lining our pockets with money, it’s about providing a service that we’re really good at providing.
“It’s up to the Bunbury community to support us – 15 years ago the nightlife was quite a bit better maintained and managed then what it is now, it deserves to have another venue.”
Mr Battah said he believed a lot of people were choosing to stay at home because night-life options had become so limited.
“We’re offering another venue that is doing something different,” he said.
“It’s going to be a constantly evolving venue, I like change, I think change is good, as in the features inside the venue, the changes we’ve made so far are substantial.”
The Forge Entertainment Complex will officially open on July 27 at 9pm with karaoke followed by Slim Jim and the Phats in the Anvil bar from 11pm.
