Bradley Conner McCabe, 23, attended Bunbury Magistrates Court via video link on July 26.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Barry Phelps told the court McCabe had been seen driving a Mitsubishi in Glen Iris.
After officers spotted the vehicle, McCabe got out of the driver’s side and threw a frozen coke at the police car while running away.
He then ran into his mother’s house before ending up on the roof of a neighbouring residence.
Police engaged in an extended stand-off, ending with McCabe being apprehended.
His lawyer, Michael Joubert, said McCabe had suffered from paranoid schizophrenia but had become “a lot better” since the ordeal.
The court also heard about a series of offences that occurred in 2017, including an incident in which McCabe threatened another person with a knife during an argument.
McCabe had received a two-year term of imprisonment in Bunbury District Court on July 23.
Last Thursday, he faced a series of charges including threatening to injure, harm, or endanger a person, driving without ever holding a licence, driving with a suspended licence, obstructing police, breach of bail, and two counts of stealing.
Magistrate Evan Shackleton, taking the seriousness of the situation into account, placed an extra four months on top of his two-year sentence.
He was also fined $1600 and had his licence disqualified for nine months.
