South Bunbury’s women’s side has moved up to second on the South West Football League ladder, willing to challenge Bunbury for the premiership.
On Sunday, they hit the field with the momentum and home crowd on their side.
The Tigers kicked three unanswered goals, while keeping the Eagles down, in the first half.
Star player Ella Smith kicked two goals – while Maddison Nuske, Stephanie Jolly, and Shaneall Bennell slotted one goal each – in the side’s 5.14.44 to 2.1.13 victory.
Eagles Kiralee Shepherd and Tahlia Dawson-Gibbs were electrifying around the ground.
An improved performance from Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault was not enough to hold off the Eaton Boomers.
Eaton caused strife for the visitors by booting two unanswered goals before half time.
The third term told a different story, as goals to Lions Shaianna Bushell and Nasima Teka shrunk the Boomers’ lead before three-quarter time.
After leading by just three points at the final change, Eaton kicked two more goals in fourth and went on to win 4.6.30 to 2.3.15.
The result puts the Boomers ahead of Collie and HBL on the ladder.
On Saturday afternoon, Busselton powered its way through Carey Park.
The Magpies delivered a fearsome run in the first half, before going scoreless in the third term.
Both teams kicked one goal each in the final term, with Busselton claiming a 4.3.27 to 2.5.17 win.
Busselton resides in fourth behind the Bulldogs, Tigers, and Bulls ahead of round 15.
