Bunbury students are getting ready to bring new life to one of the oldest tales.
A cast and crew of 90 Bunbury Catholic College students have been working tirelessly for the past six months, perfecting their own take on The Beauty and the Beast.
Co-director Gerard Robertson said they hadn’t taken on Disney before but were excited to be doing something a little bit different.
“We’re pretty excited to do Beauty and the Beast, it’s a big production, bit overwhelmed by the size of it and the expectation of Disney, but the kids have been really good, they’ve been embracing it,” he said.
“We wanted something mainstream that a wide range of audiences could come to, really excited to see right from the oldest to the youngest.
“The costumes are going to be exceptional, there should be quite a few wow moments - Be our guest will have few surprises in store.”
Mr Robertson said audiences would get the full musical experience, with two and a half hours of singing, dancing and acting.
“We’re not encouraging the students to perform in a Disney-esque style but to add their own artistic freedom to it,” he said.
“Just the way the kids have gotten into it and how professional it is, we really want people to see it’s not just a school production.
“I don’t think people will come in and just think it’s Disney but they will come in and see a fresh version.”
