The Collie Eagles reserves team held off a fast-charging Harvey Bulls team to record its second draw of the season.
The Eagles capitalised on the Bulls’ early inaccuracy to storm out to a 15 point lead by quarter time, which the Bulls pulled back to nine points by the final change.
However the Bulls, who had kicked just four goals from 16 shots, came out charging in the final quarter and kicked three straight goals to race towards an unlikely victory.
But the Eagles were able to hold the Bulls off as the scores were level at 7.12 (54) to 8.6 (54) as the final siren sounded.
Aiden Mayheu and Luke Slater were the Eagles’ best with both kicking two goals.
Brayden Kent also chipped in with two goals while Jarrad Miller and Brandon Broomhead each bagged one.
The results weren’t as good for the colts and women’s teams, who both recorded heavy defeats against the Bulls.
Despite a competitive first quarter in which the Bulls held a narrow seven point lead, the Eagles were kept to just two goals for the remainder of the game.
The Bulls extended their lead at every quarter and eventually claimed the 10.7 (67) to 4.1 (25) win.
Jack Davidson kicked two of the Eagles’ goals, with Connor Mumme and Fraser Hislop kicking one each.
The women’s team recorded its biggest defeat in its short history as it was on the wrong end of a 73 point thumping.
The Eagles conceded 13 goals against the Bulls, including nine in the second and third quarters, in the 13.7 (85) to 2.0 (12) defeat.
Jonelle Blackford kicked both of the Eagles’ goals in the second quarter, while Rachel Shepherd and Tahlia Dawson-Gibbs were the standouts.
The teams will play their final home game this Sunday against Harvey Brunswick Leschenault.
