Bunbury’s Ben Pages has been named as a top four finalist in Australia’s Best Young Locksmith competition.
Mr Page is the head Locksmith of South West-based business, Procare Locksmiths.
He said winning the award would send a strong message to young apprentices that hard work, patience and determination pays off.
“Young locksmiths have a lot of opportunity to take the trade towards an exciting future, and I would like to think that what I have managed to achieve at a young age and the risks I have taken would inspire other locksmiths to do the same,” he said.

“Locksmithing is a dynamic industry and I am very proud to be part of it.
“I would be very humbled to win the 2018 Australia’s Best Young Locksmith award.”
The winner receives a prize package worth more than $6000.
The prize includes travel to the Eastern States for factory visits and professional development.
Mr Page said he found his career extremely rewarding and always challenging.
“I enjoy the variety of work as this keeps everyday interesting,” he said.
“As a person you need to be patient, analytical, determined, adaptable, and have great customer service skills.
“I don't think you ever fully master everything, so you need to accept being a life long learner to remain competitive and up to date with technology.”
Mr Page said he wanted to grow Procare Locksmiths to be the largest locksmith company in WA.
“My goal is to become the operations manager of Procare Locksmiths and continue providing the latest in digital access solutions, high quality safes and security screens, and managing the majority of government and commercial restricted systems in the area,” he said.
The winner of the 2018 Australia’s Best Young Locksmith will be announced in December.
