A 31-year-old Collie man was fined $2200 after pleading guilty to three offences in the Collie Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 22.
Harold Carl Laurence Nicholson pleaded guilty to no authority to drive, possessing stolen property and driving an unlicenced vehicle in relation to an incident where he was found riding a stolen KTM offroad motorbike on June 13.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Greg Ward told the court Nicholson had been spotted riding the unlicenced motorbike at 11am that day along Atkinson Street before taking it offroad in bushland near Moira Road.
Sergeant Ward said police stopped Nicholson and found that he did not have a licence to ride the motorbike and that the bike itself had been stolen in 2011.
Nicholson told the court he had bought the motorbike and was paying it off but didn’t know it had previously been stolen.
Nicholson was handed a fine of $1500 for not having a motorbike licence, $200 for possessing stolen property and $500 for driving an unlicenced vehicle.
