The Souwest Jets ended their 2018 West Australian Netball League season campaign with a well-deserved victory over South East Demons in Round 14.
Unable to clinch a spot in the finals following losses to the Wheatbelt Flames and Perth Lions, the Jets used their time at Eaton Recreation Centre to thank the players, coaches, and fans.
They ran out to an early lead against the Demons, with attackers Giselle Taylor and Maia Bratton invincible under the ring.
Taylor picked up a whopping 49 goals, while Bratton and Brooke Gibson collected 15 and seven respectively.
The Demons struggled to convert, while Jets’ Wing Attack Jessica Repacholi and Wing Defence Harmony Sutherland worked overtime to move the ball forward.
Centre Brooke Repacholi took a nasty fall after leaping into the air, but was able to brush it off.
Ahead 17 to 9 at quarter time, the Jets refused to let victory slip through their grasp.
The Demons found their groove in the second term, but the home side still maintained a comfortable lead.
Jets’ Goal Defender Riley Culnane and Goal Keeper Ella Taylor kept the visitors from coming back.
Leading 38 to 21 at half time, the Jets – feeling the crowd’s enthusiasm – then carried their form into the third quarter.
They led by 19 at three-quarter time before storming home to a resounding 71 to 39 victory.
The Jets wrapped up their season in fifth place with four wins and eight losses.
While the Jets’ Reserves finished sixth, the Under 18s qualified for the finals.
