Three youngsters displayed their talents in front of judges and fellow musicians at this year’s Queen's Cup event.
Performing at Australind Senior High School from August 24 to 26, Jesse Shortis won the JD’s Music Tuition Most Outstanding Jazz Soloist and the Bricknell Electrics Percussion awards.
Jonah Golds and Bayden Adams collected a handful of solo awards during the weekend of competition.
Jesse and Jonah have been part of the South West Wind Orchestra for 18 months, while Bayden was been playing in the group for two years.
Jayden Williamson is the South West Wind Orchestra Conductor and teaches students at Australind SHS.
His business, JD’s Music Tuition, sponsored five awards during this year’s event.
He said it was remarkable seeing the students play, learn and develop over several years.
“The event supports what they are doing at school and what they want to do in the long-term,” he said.
“They have a commitment to music and they love it, they take their instruments home and practice.”
Jayden teaches Jesse and Bayden at Australind SHS, while Jonah attends and plays for Bunbury Senior High School.
