The Harvey Bulls booked a place in the 2018 South West Football League - Women's Grand Final with an 11-point victory over South Bunbury.
Last weekend, South Bunbury put up a fight against reigning premiers Bunbury while Harvey took down Carey Park.
The Bulls went into Sunday’s preliminary final at Glen Huon Reserve determined to do their club proud, and took control of the game without hesitation.
After conceding the first point of the game, Harvey pressed South Bunbury’s backline and put themselves in a good position thanks to Lisa Worsfold’s first goal.
The Tigers’ fans appeared worried during the first quarter, as the side failed to slot its attempts through the posts.
Worsfold’s second put the Bulls in front by 10 at quarter time and gave the fans hope of a grand final appearance.
The Bulls held a 2.0.12 to 1.3.9 lead at the main break, and further pressed their attack in the third quarter.
Two goals from Courtney Bayliss and one from Fleur Parker extended Harvey’s lead in the third and put South Bunbury’s chances of a comeback firmly in doubt.
A goal to South Bunbury’s Maddison Obal then closed the gap before three-quarter time.
Leading by 17 at the final change, Harvey fought off a spirited South Bunbury in the fourth term to claim a 5.3.33 to 3.4.22 victory.
Harvey will bring brains and brawn to Hands Oval next weekend, with the side expected to give the Bulldogs a run for their money.
