The Shire of Dardanup announced the appointment of the new chief executive last week, following the resignation of Mark Chester in May, after 22 years at the helm.
Shire of Dardanup president Mick Bennett said Serpentine-Jarrahdale director of development services Andre Schönfeldt was appointed following a unanimous decision by council.
“Andre has a wealth of experience in planning and corporate services,” Mr Bennett said.
“All results of my referee checking has been nothing but excellent on all fronts.
“I’m absolutely certain we have the right person for the job.”
Mr Bennett said applications were received for the position from around Australia and even overseas.
A committee of three Shire of Dardanup Councillors plus a WALGA representative undertook the selection and interview process prior to Council’s final decision.
Mr Schönfeldt has experience as an acting chief executive and was also the Shire of Broome director of Development Services.
He will begin in March.
