Members of WA ISports inc., Bunbury were given an insight into indoor cricket from some of the state's best coaches and players.
The group visited the Bunbury Indoor Cricket and Sports Centre on Friday, September 14 for a Come ‘n’ Try Cricket all-abilities skills session, featuring Lord’s Taverners Australia State Indoor Cricket representatives.
Lord’s Taverners State Indoor Cricket manager Rob Rogerson and Lord’s Taverners State Indoor Cricket coach Justin Shore helped participants through training.
Also pitching in were state indoor cricketer Jonathon Flower, Indoor Sports WA president Christian White, and Bunbury Indoor Cricket and Sports Centre owner Daron Stenhouse.
Mr Rogerson was thrilled to be helping people with disabilities in the South West whilst representing the Lord’s Taverners.
“We wanted to extend this opportunity out to other places in Western Australia,” he said.
“You get to see these people move up into quite a remarkable position and it fills my heart with happiness to see them achieve so much.
“If we hear of similar things from other country centres then we will look there as well.”
The representatives were vocal about the benefits of indoor cricket, describing it as a fun, energetic sport that could be played all year round.
WA ISports inc. and Mr Stenhouse thanked the West Australian Cricket Association, Cricket South West, City of Bunbury, and Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries for their help.
