Adding to the South West Phoenix Firebirds’ phenomenal debut season, striker Eleanor Coventry has been acknowledged for her extraordinary achievements.
Coventry became the State League’s leading goalscorer for 2018, with the 17-year-old set to receive the Golden Boot on Sunday, October 28.
She secured the club record for a male or female player at senior level by scoring four hat-tricks within the first four rounds.
Her efforts against Joondalup City, Wanneroo City, Curtin University, and Perth Soccer Club back in April cemented her as one of the league’s best players.
Speed, tenacity, ball skills, and accuracy under pressure soon led to the striker booting 30 goals in 10 games.
Among her many achievements in 2018, Coventry put away 14 goals overall in the Firebirds’ two games against Gosnells.

Coventry finished her season with a whopping 45 goals from 21 matches.
“It was really, really exciting scoring so many goals,” Coventry said.
During their first year in the competition, the Firebirds went undefeated before claiming the 2018 Division One league title.
“It was a real team effort. I was able to put a lot of goals into the back of the net, but it was the team that gave me the opportunity to do so,” Coventry said.
“We were able to win the league because all of the girls did their jobs.
“Having two new coaches – Stephen and Nicole Suttie – who were on top of everything was great.
“They passed on their knowledge, and so we were able to understand the game as much as they did.”
