Senior Sergeant Heath Soutar said the offender had gained entry to a vehicle on Centaur Road in Buckingham through an unlocked door in the early morning of Tuesday, October 9.
He said the offender rummaged through the vehicle and took a wallet, which contained cash and credit cards.
The stolen cards were then used at a number of businesses around Collie.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said police were in the process of collecting CCTV footage from the businesses to continue their investigation.
“We’re really confident we’ll be able to identify the person involved from the CCTV footage,” he said.
Police will also continue their joint investigation with Fisheries officers into a 44-year-old Collie man that was pulled over by police during a traffic stop on October 7.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said the man had been charged with possessing cannabis, but police were also investigating whether to charge the man with further offences.
He said police had seized a number of fishing-related items from the vehicle, including nets, along with what may be marron and other small fish.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said police had turned over the creatures to Fisheries officers for investigation.
Police also charged a 50-year-old Collie man with aggravated assault and breaching protective bail conditions in relation to a family violence incident on October 6.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said police would allege the man struck his ex-partner in the head while under bail conditions that forbid him from being in contact with her.
He said the man had been remanded into custody and sent to Bunbury, where he has remained.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said the incident was one of seven family violence reports police had received over the week, with family violence making up more than 10 per cent of the 58 reports to which police responded.
He said police were also investigating a number of thefts.
On the afternoon of October 4, three 45 kilogram gas bottles were stolen from the Collie River Valley Tourist Park, with the offender gaining entry to the park by cutting through a fence.
That same day, police also received a report that shipping containers at a property on Patstone Road had been broken into, although it appeared nothing had been taken.
Police also responded to a report of a burglary at a property on Carma Avenue.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said the occupant had heard sounds outside the house and the power had been turned off at the meter box.
The offenders had attempted to gain entry to a shed in the backyard, but fled before police arrived.
Senior Sergeant Soutar asked anyone with information to contact police.
