Cricketers from across the South West are getting ready for the commencement of a new womens competition.
The Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association confirmed five womens teams Hay Park, Leschenault, Colts, Eaton, and Marist would go head-to-head during the 2018/19 season.
The inaugural season has been designed as a pilot project for competitors to provide feedback.
The association will develop a bigger competition should the 2018/19 season format garner a positive response.
Games will be held once every two weeks, featuring 30 overs per team.
Hay Park Cricket Club womens player Fiona Florance said they were looking to create the full cricket experience of playing, training, and socialising.
"There are a lot of mums involved, and I think it's great for a lot of the kids to see their mums playing cricket," she said.
"We've got players coming through from Milo in2Cricket and Junior Blasters.
"There are now a lot of interested females in the South West."
Leschenault Cricket Club president Angelo D'Agostino said he enjoyed helping to create opportunities for female athletes.
Women's cricket has been around at the highest level for quite some time, so it's great seeing all of these people getting involved," he said.
"There's quite a demand for it."

Players from the five teams gathered at Eaton Oval for the Western Australia Cricket Associations Perth Scorchers Family Fun Day on Sunday, October 14.
WA indigenous womens coach Jenny Wallace and WA Country XI womens coach Angele Gray conducted skills training with the participants.
The event also entertained junior cricketers looking to start this season.
WACA cricket manager South West Rachel Norman said the organisation promoted cricket to people across the state.
Were proving you can play cricket in small games, with the music going to create a real atmosphere, she said.
Were hoping the participants can take the drills they've learned from us back to their clubs.

WACA area manager country Steve Philippe encouraged women, men, girls, and boys to give cricket a shot over summer.
Round one of the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association womens league has been scheduled for Sunday, October 28.
