It was a clash for the ages, with league leaders Bulls going up against second placed Tornadoes Red in the Bunbury Basketball Association men’s competition.
The round three showdown began with both sides moving swiftly and finding free targets in the key.
Once again, Travis Durnin (29 points, 11 two-pointers), James Goodlad (20), and Tom Harper (18) dazzled from the opening tip-off.
After claiming a five-point quarter-time lead, the team slotted one shot after another.
They held a 15-point margin at the main break and proceeded to obliterate Tornadoes Red’s chances at victory.
The reigning premiers never flinched and maintained a significant lead in the second half.
Bulls clinched three wins from three with an 86 to 60 result.
Tornadoes Black was fearsome in its top-notch performance against Dunsborough.
The team got off to a rousing start, and led by four at quarter time before running away with the game.
Carrying an 18-point margin into the main break, Tornadoes Black remained in control throughout the second half.
Matthew Leary (27) and Lucas Goff (21) helped Tornadoes Black to a convincing 97 to 70 win.
In a much tighter showdown, Aces Sky maintained fourth spot on the ladder with its three-point win over Aces White.
The first Aces derby for the season saw Aces Sky nab a six-point quarter-time lead.
Aces White then came back to score a narrow margin at half time.
Both sides were neck-and-neck throughout the fourth term, with Aces Sky doing enough to claim an 81 to 78 win.
Dunsborough’s women’s side sits second following an 83 to 65 victory over last year’s runners up Tornadoes Red.
Following a tight first quarter, the Oilers crept further in front and maintained composure in defence.
Adele East (19), Beige Harris (18), and Dana East (17) made themselves known to Slammers’ selectors, while Karinda Farrant carried Tornadoes Red with 27.
Tornadoes Black continued its form with a decisive 27-point win over Aces Sky.
Both teams went back and forth in an entertaining first term.
However, with help from Jasmine Barrett (18) and Cian Parsons (17, five two-pointers), Tornadoes Black continued its dominance in the second half.
