The head of Always Good Nights has developed a new way to enliven Bunbury's laneways, parks, and carparks.
WA music promoter and Across the Road artist management coordinator Kelsie Miller has organised Across the Road Summer Music Festivals for different dates over the next few months.
The all-ages concerts will feature music spaces complete with pop-up bars, food vans, and plenty of seating.
The first festival will take place on Saturday, November 24, with others scheduled for Saturday, January 19 and Saturday, February 9.
Perth indie-roots singer-songwriter Riley Pearce will headline November’s event.
“I love the South West and Bunbury. All up, I have played around seven or eight shows there,” he said.
“People are always super enthusiastic about live music there.
“I will be playing in Bunbury with the band this time.
“The sound is really great at the moment. It’s yet another reason why I am looking forward to playing with the band again.”
After releasing his latest EP, Eastbound, earlier this year, Pearce hit the road for a six-month tour of Europe.
“I bought a van, travelled around the continent, and played shows over there,” Pearce said.
“Everyone over there is really appreciative of music.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect so I thought the best way to go into it was to not have any expectations.
“I learned a lot about playing live and playing shows there. I really enjoyed the entire experience.”
Bridgetown musician Emily Barker is returning to the South West following an extended stint in the United Kingdom.
Barker was recently given the 2018 UK Artist of the Year Award by the Americana Music Association of the UK.
The win followed up the release of her latest album, Sweet Kind of Blue.
Rounding out the line-up on November 24 are Perth folk-jazz group Man Sandal, RnB artist Jamilla, and singer-songwriter Kaitlin Keegan.
The Across the Music Festival events have been made possible with funding from the City of Bunbury Summer Events Round, an APRA AMCOS Music Grant, and in-kind support from Totally Sound.
