Bunbury basketballer Tayah Burrows will represent the Rockingham Flames in next year’s State Basketball League season.
Whilst juggling Year 12 studies at Kennedy Baptist College, the guard will don Flames’ colours and entertain crowds at the Hot House.
The 17-year-old will play under new head coach Craig Reynolds.
She will also hit the court alongside the likes of Janelle Adams, Chelsea Armstrong, Jesni Cooper, Zahli Jolly, and Ari Hetherington, who all recently re-signed with the Flames.
“It was a really hard decision, one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make with basketball,” she said.
“Rockingham got in touch with me, the coach wanted to have a chat. We then spoke a few times.
“I can’t wait to have a fresh start, new beginnings, and just see where it all heads.
"They have always been a pretty tight-knit, hard, and aggressive team.
“I think I’ll be able to fit in quite well with them because I play quite intensively.”
Earlier this year, Burrows and fellow South West basketball star Georgia Denehey were selected for the 2018/19 Perth Lynx development squad.
“Lynx training has been unlike anything I have never experienced before,” she said.
“The level of intensity and all the girls there have been really good.
“I can definitely see improvement in my game, and hopefully it keeps developing with Rockingham as well.”
Burrows played for the South West Slammers in 2018, who finished ninth on the ladder and fell just short of reaching the play-offs.
She notched up 19 games, an average of 12.9 points per game, and a total field goal average of 43.14 per cent.
Earlier this month, Denehey made the switch from the Slammers to the Joondalup Wolves for next season.
