A man found with drugs in Usher earlier this year has been ordered to return to court in February.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Greg Ward told the court officers were conducting patrols around Usher at 10.30pm on Thursday, May 10.
Officers then spotted Cody King Maughan in Dudley Park Drive. Maughan then walked towards swampland before being approached by police.
During a search of Maughan’s bag, officers found 3 grams of cannabis.
Maughan’s phone was seized before he was ordered to move away from the area.
While police were looking through his phone, it received text messages relating to the potential sale of cannabis.
The person who had sent the messages was in the area, and was then arrested by police.
Police later searched Maughan’s Usher residence and found varying amounts of cannabis.
They also uncovered implements used in drug dealing such as scales.
An alcoholmeter, used to test a person’s blood alcohol limit, was also uncovered, believed to have been stolen/unlawfully obtained.
Maughan was later found to have breached a conditional suspended imprisonment order.
He faced Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 1 over drug and stolen property charges.
Magistrate Belinda Coleman remanded the drug and stolen property charges for sentencing in magistrates court on February 25.
She then remanded the breach of a suspended imprisonment order charge to the district court on the same day.
Maughan’s bail conditions were renewed on the same terms.
His conditions include a $10,000 personal undertaking and $10,000 surety.
