Tony Barker-May won Saturday’s 18-hole stableford event at the Collie Golf Club, which was sponsored by Jim and Bev Moyses.
Playing very well in recent times, and Saturday was no exception, Barker-May scored 39 points to claim the first place trophy.
In the runner-up position was Zac Faries with a score of 38 points.
It was pleasing to see Zac play well after a shoulder injury had prevented him from playing golf for most of the year.
Eric Annandale scored 36 points to take out third place, on a countback from Alan Kent on the same score.
Matthew Harker, Ian Annandale, Ray Alp, Denis Cocker, Phil Warburton and visitor and ex-captain, Bill Hunter all returned a round of 35 points.
Completing the vouchers, each scoring 34 points apiece were Dave Farr, Ray Cooper, George Newlands, Paul Moyses, Trevor McCormick and Hugh Annandale.
Dot Lawrence won the ladies stableford event with the great score of 40 points. Vicki Graham was runner up with 37 points, followed by Lee Hunter and Michelle Tate with 34 points each.
Novelty winners on the day were –
Nearest to pins – Rod Simmonds (4), Rhonda Annandale (4), Colin Giblett (7) and Trevor Graham (14).
Longest first putts – Phil Warburton (6), Alan Kent (9) and Trevor McCormick (18).
Long drive on No.15 – Zac Faries.
Tuesday competition
Peter Coombs and Joe Italiano were both in good form in last Tuesday’s 18-hole leisure day stableford competition.
Both players returned the very good score of 40 points with Coombs taking first place on a countback from Italiano.
Troy Briggs has been in good touch and again showed that his handicap will continue to go south as he returned 39 points to finish third.
Darren O’Brien and David Laird each compiled 38 points, followed by Jarrad Miller and Jim Larsen, each on 37 points. Steven Ireland and Ed Riley rounded out the vouchers with a score of 36 points apiece.
Trevor McCormick won the best vet award with his score of 38 points.
Novelties were won by Trevor McCormick (4), David Laird (7), Graham Williams (9), Brad Swan (14) and John Wray (18).
Nine-hole Scroungers
Ian Shannon and George Dorozenko each scored 22 points in last Thursday’s nine hole scroungers competition.
On a spin, Shannon secured the first place voucher, relegating Dorozenko to the runner-up position followed by Troy Briggs a further shot away in third place with his score of 21 points.
Dave Farr and Dave Henderson each returned a score of 20 points, followed by Alan Kent, Eric Annandale and Kevin Ireland each scoring 19 points. Ten players scored 18 points. Novelties went to Ash Hollins (4), Ken Woods (6) and Dave Farr (9).
Graeme Jackson took 39 shots to complete his round and in so doing, won the day’s best gross award voucher.
Competition
This Saturday’s event will be an 18-hole stableford, sponsored by CRVMC.
Nine hole scroungers will be on today with leisure day next Tuesday, with the summer open the following weekend.
