Donnybrook's second grade side has been making waves in the 2018/19 Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association competition.
After eight rounds, the team remains on top of the leaderboard with seven wins from as many games.
Donnybrook’s top order batsmen Mark Manea (82 runs off 43 balls) and Philip Welsh (70 off 84) were instrumental during the team’s showdown with Harvey-Benger in round three.
The side claimed its third consecutive win by dismissing Harvey-Benger for 182.
Following a bye in round four, the Dons returned to the field to claim a convincing five-wicket win over Leschenault in round five.
The Green Caps posted a respectable 149, while Donnybrook bowler Bradley Swarbrick clinched 3/39 from nine overs.
Assisted by Armaan Randhawa’s 45 off 53 (including seven fours), Donnybrook went on to reach Leschenault’s total after 23.2 overs.
Eaton threw everything it had at Donnybrook during their round six showdown.
The Beavers hit 6/109, thanks to solid efforts from Stuart Clark and Troy Lewis. Donnybrook fought well before reaching Eaton’s total with four overs spare.
The Dons were dominant in round seven, posting a six-wicket victory over Collie.
Going after Collie’s total of 191, Donnybrook’s top and middle orders helped the side to reach its target with 19 overs to go.
Manea was the star with the bat again, clubbing 70 from just 41 deliveries including seven sixes.
The win in the top-of-the-table clash gave Donnybrook a five-point lead over the result of the competition.
The Dons then furthered that lead with a crushing seven-wicket victory over Colts on December 1.
Colts openers Tim Stewart and Fraser Hislop got the team off to a strong start but Norman Bedford (2/17 from 10 overs) made the breakthrough when he had Stewart stumped with the score on 65.
A batting collapse, which saw no Colts batters outside the openers score more than 16, saw Colts finish their 50 overs with 8/172.
It took less than 34 overs for the Dons to run down the total for their sixth straight win, with wicketkeeper Bradman May top-scoring (89 not out off 100 balls) and Manea chipping in with a quick-fire 42 from 23 deliveries.
Donnybrook will be looking to continue its form into a seventh match as it travels up to Forrest Park to take on third-placed Marist on Saturday, December 8.
