George Newlands was a popular winner in last Saturday’s 18-hole stableford, sponsored by the Collie River Valley Medical Centre.
He had a great day out, playing consistent golf from tee to green, scoring 43 points to win the first place trophy by two shots.
Playing in the morning round, Brad Swan and Troy Briggs also played quality golf with each player scoring 41 points.
Each player won a trophy for their achievement with Swan taking second place from third placed Briggs by way of a countback.
On a day of solid scoring, a trio of players each returned 39 points.
In countback order, these players were Joe Italiano, Dave Farr and Trevor McCormick.
Coming in next were Neil Motion, with 38 points followed by Chris Mead with 37 points.
Doug Crowe, Steven Ireland, John Michalak, Bruce Roberts, Jim Moyses and Clive Pullan all returned a score of 36 points, while Rod Simmonds and Brian Banks completed the vouchers with a score of 35 points each.
Nancy Lynn won the ladies’ trophy with her good score of 38 points while Shelley Barker-May with 36 points and Michelle Tate with 35 points each won a voucher for their performances.

SCROUNGERS
Steven Ireland won last Thursday’s nine hole scroungers competition with the good score of 22 points.
Denis Cocker and Ross Davidson were next, each scoring 21 points with Cocker taking the runner-up prize over Davo on a spin.
Danny Cheng, Ray Cooper and John Jackson each scored 20 points followed by Peter Coombs, George Newlands, Ashley Hollins, Graham Williams and Mick Finlay, each on 19 points.
Novelties went to Dean Rakich (4), Ken Woods (6) and Ed Riley (9) while Danny Cheng won the day’s best gross voucher with his score of 36 off-the-stick.
LEISURE DAY
Jay Robinson was back to his best form in last Tuesday’s 18-hole leisure Day competition.
He scored a well compiled 42 points to win by one shot from Narrogin’s Rod Hayes on 41 points.
In form Joe Italiano was third with 38 points, followed by Ray Alp and Alan Kent, each on 37 points.
Rounding out the vouchers were Darren O’Brien and Steven Ireland with 36 points apiece, followed by George Newlands on 35 points.
Trevor McCormick won the day’s best vet award with his return of 39 points.
Novelties went to Neil Motion (4), Steven Ireland (7), Allan Banks (9), Jay Robinson (14) and John Wray (18).
This weekend’s event will be the 36-hole Summer Open Stableford on Saturday and Sunday, preceded by the Bushwalkers 4BBB stableford and ladies individual stableford on Friday.
