One Bunbury Primary School student has shown she has what it takes when it comes to science after taking out third prize in a national competition.
Molly Cooper was recently awarded third place in the Robogirls Science Challenge for her Optical Illusions project. The 10-year-old said she was happy when she got the news after coming second in the junior category last year.
“This year I moved up to the intermediate category so I was quite surprised,” she said.
“I like learning new things and I think it’s fascinating how the world works I just think it’s really cool.”
Associate principal Franca Dillon said providing opportunties through competitions like Robogirls helped to promote the STEM learning area.
“In terms of what Molly has achieved and having a go a couple of times we’re hoping next year more girls take on the challenge,” she said.
“For Molly to achieve what she has at a national level is exciting for our school and helps to inspire future girls to participate.”
