Protesters have urged the ALP to "get off the fence" and oppose Queensland's controversial Adani coal mine when members meet for the party's national conference in Adelaide.

Opponents of the mine on Wednesday conducted sit-ins at the offices of federal opposition leader Bill Shorten, deputy leader Tanya Plibersek and Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane respectively.
Some 200 protesters surrounded the Queensland government's CBD headquarters, joining hands and briefly preventing workers from entering or leaving the office tower.
At one point the protesters unsuccessfully attempted to enter the building.
About 200 people gathered in Melbourne outside Mr Shorten's Moonee Ponds electorate office while a group of 50 endured soggy conditions in Redfern outside Ms Plibersek's office.
Protesters held placards and banners, some emblazoned with the slogan "It's Time", a reference to Labor's successful 1972 election campaign. They sang, chanted and, in Melbourne, stopped traffic with a conga line.
Mr Shorten appeared to have closed his electoral office for the morning while Ms Palaszczuk was at a meeting of state leaders in Adelaide.
Ms Plibersek met with some constituents inside her office.
The protesters want delegates at Labor's national conference - which begins in Adelaide on Sunday - to formally oppose the proposed mine.
"Labor needs to get off the fence and listen to the scientists, listen to its constituents," Jason Wu, a member of Stop Adani's Redfern group, told AAP.
"Labor we've got your back, you can stop Adani, it's the right thing to do."
A number of students who attended the sit-ins also attended national strikes calling for action on climate change earlier in December.
Ruby Pandolfi, 19, said there's a growing sense of urgency among high school and university students who want governments to do more to tackle global warming.
"Young people are concerned, we are reaching a tipping point, we really have to act right now to save our futures," she told AAP.
"The Labor party needs to stop messing around."
Adani has announced it plans to start work on the mine before Christmas.
