Like so many people at this time of year, Helen and I are looking forward to Christmas, knowing all our family will be together.
It is what makes this time of year so special.
We are, however, very aware that this very thing that brings us so much joy can be a source of sadness for others.
There will be many people in our community who will be alone this Christmas, missing absent family and friends or celebrating the first festive season after the loss of a loved one.
Loneliness and grief are always difficult to deal with but seem so much more so at this time of year.
I hope this year we can all look out for one another.
If there is someone you know who might be lonely or isolated in the coming weeks please look for ways to include them in some of your celebrations and let them know they don’t have to be alone.
Bunbury is such a compassionate community.
It’s kindness and acceptance that make people feel part of things and that is something we can all offer.
