It’s a New Year!
As we sit back and reflect on the year that was and look forward to the prospects of 2019, what comes to mind is the old adage “for every action there is a reaction”.
Following the Choose Respect campaign and the ripple effect, that is a very exciting thought.
Every smile you give to someone passing by can create a reaction that triggers or reinforces a positive intention.
If like attracts like then simple acts of kindness everyday can build a community with positive intentions.
Awesome right!
Imagine if you went to bed at night remembering the good actions and the positive reactions you received.
Maybe you and the kids at the beach decided to collect two pieces of rubbish each as you left.
Or rather than rushing through the traffic you allowed that lady to cross the street who you saw waiting at the roundabout.
Or maybe you included the new kid at the park and shared the equipment.
There are countless ways in which you can be mindful of your actions everyday.
The practice of setting positive intentions has been around for centuries.
Here is a simple daily practice, give it a go for a week and see for yourself the connection between your intentions and your experiences.
Set a positive intention first thing in the morning.
Write it down and carry it with you, read it throughout the day
At the end of the day make a list of the experiences that reflects your intention
Repeat for a week and look back at your notes – enjoy feeling positive!
The best part about positive actions is not only receiving a positive reaction, and its benefit to others, it’s the charge you receive of more positive energy, to be the best version of yourself.
The Choose Respect team wish all of you an exciting New Year brimming with positive intentions that creates a better world for you and me.
